Family and friends are the most important people in my life. When I was seven years old I started playing softball. I eventually started pitching and spent almost every day on the mound pitching to my number #1 fan, my dad. Softball taught me how to work in a team environment and have the courage to accomplish my goals. While growing up I went on a lot of camping trips, had family get-togethers, and traveled to almost every state. My grandparents instilled in me a sense of adventure and taught me how important it is to learn about what the world has to offer. I singed a softball scholarship with Point Loma Nazarene University in 2009. I became a pitcher for the Sea Lions and had the opportunity to start in the circle as a freshman. My major was Broadcast Journalism and I learned a lot about radio, TV, and management. I picked up communication as my minor to become more well-rounded. After my freshman year I got invited to play for the American International team overseas. I pitched for the team and we played in Belgium, Brussels, Antwerp and Amsterdam. This is when I decided traveling would be a big part of my life. After my junior year of college I decided to study abroad in Costa Rica during the summer of 2012. This was an incredible experience and I learned to go outside of my comfort zone. I took spanish classes and got to live with a local family for a weekend. This was one of the best learning experiences of my life because I found of what it's like to walk in another persons shoes. These people had so little compared to an average US citizen, yet they were so much happier than most Americans. Their focus wasn't on material things, but rather family, friends, and building relationships. During my senior year I became PLNU's radio manager. I love radio because as a DJ you get to build relationships with so many different people. I think it is an important job because you have the opportunity to make someones day. After graduation in May of 2013 I plan to work somewhere in the field of media. I am open minded as to what I want to do but radio or something to do with social media management are the first that come to mind. I have always thought it would be fun to be a PR representative for a local animal shelter who goes on local television networks to show viewers animals that are available for adoption.
