Hello, I’m Hannah. I’m a student attending Arcadia High School. My dream is to become a pediatrician for I believe that caring for the ill is a great act of curing mankind, in fact, I believe that everyone in this world should be committed to perform some simple acts of kindness from time to time. Becoming a pediatrician will enable me to contribute to the goodness of the world, even during adversities that may become a threat to our lives.
I am hoping to apply for Methodist Hospital as a volunteer so I can gain a full hands-on experience for when I aid the ill in a clinical setting. In addition, not only will this grant me a whole new experience, it will allow me to achieve my ultimate goal of helping others.
I am currently an officer (Treasurer) for Habitat for Humanity. It is not only a club in Arcadia High School, but it is also a very well-known organization who aids individuals who are in great need. This non-profit organization builds homes for indigent families and recruits volunteers who are willing to help build these beautiful homes. In the past, Habitat for Humanity has held many build day events, where volunteers would gather to help build these new homes. I worked with a great number of volunteers on learning how to build a home, from simply hammering a nail to painting the walls of a house. In addition, the teamwork that I have experienced as I worked with other volunteers taught me how to effectively interact with my peers and has substantially improved my communication skills. Building homes can be strenuous work, however the feeling of pride and accomplishment that you get in the end is totally worth it, especially when you know that you are helping families who are in great need.
