Hannah Reese
Hi! My name is Hannah, and I am a first-year student at The Ohio State University.
My top five StrengthsQuest Strengths include Developer, Learner, Harmony, Positivity, and Empathy. I believe Positivity is one of my top five Strengths because I always try to see the bright side of hard situations. By making the best out of events or projects that do not go as planned, I strive to keep the people around me happy, too. I like to praise others for their achievements and pick up their spirits after they fail. When classmates or acquaintances resent my positivity, I do not allow them to bring me down. I am excited about life and what it has to offer.
During the "Dream Job" activity, I researched a job I want to have in the future. This activity helped me get an idea of what options will be available for me after I graduate. The job I researched, a middle school math teaching job, was not hard to find. However, I had difficulty deciding which state I will want to teach in. Through "Dream Job," I learned about the job search and how tedious it can be. I now realize that deciding on an area of the country I would like to live in, while still being open minded, will make the job search simpler.
The First Year Success Series sessions were very valuable to my first semester at Ohio State. The sessions required me to attend lectures mostly taught by Dennis Learning Center staff. I enjoyed learning stress relief and time management techniques, test taking skills, and ways to beat anxiety. This semester, I used what I learned in these sessions in my classes, on exams, and during troubling personal times. I am happy I had the opportunity to attend the First Year Success Series sessions.
