Hannah is a multifaceted musician who enjoys exploring different musical genres from classical and baroque to folk. Her recent activities reflect her adaptability and have seen her interviewed for Boris Johnson’s London Universities promotional videos for American prospective students.
She studies cello with Naomi Butterworth at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, baroque cello with Sue Sheppard, bass viola da gamba with Alison Crumb and has had various coaching on folk cello including Natalie Haas. She performs regularly with the early music group Bellot Ensemble and Trinity Laban baroque music ensembles for the Royal Greenwich Early Music Festival and London Handel Festival. Currently she is in a folk trio with Elisabeth Flett and Jamie Leeming and they are recording an EP at the end of October 2015.
As a strong orchestral player, Hannah has performed with Orpheus Sinfonia, Orion Orchestra, Women of the World Orchestra at Royal Festival Hall conducted by Marin Alsop accompanying Petula Clarke and Fascinating Aida, with Sandi Toksvig as compere, Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra and London Musical Theatre Orchestra leading the cello section.
Commercially, Hannah has been a cellist stunt double for a programme on the Welsh broadcasting channel S4C, a wedding band member in a Samsung advert and most recently in a quintet and providing consultation for Agatha Raisin, a new series airing on Sky.
Hannah’s musical journey began at age 10 with the question ‘What’s a Cello?’ when she was told that she would be learning the instrument at school. Ten major operations on a rare thyroglossal cyst in her throat at Great Ormond Street Hospital between the ages of 6-17 only reinforced her drive to achieve and her conscientious attitude towards practice. She is currently studying towards an LTCL in teaching and provides private one-to-one cello lessons.
Hannah was awarded a TCL scholarship upon entry to Trinity Laban.
