Hans Kohlsdorf was born in Guayaquil, Ecuador and grew up in Bogotá, Colombia. Although he has over 30 years experience in the industrial, healthcare and energy sectors, Hans-Joachimoriginally began with a focus on economics. He attended the Universidad de Los Andes inBogotá before setting out to get his first job. After spending several years at Siemens, hereturned to school, this time to focus on business management. He attended Harvard BusinessSchool Advanced Management Program, where he also took the course Making CorporateBoards Better. After finishing the AMP he became CEO of Siemens in the Andean Region andlater became president and CEO of Siemens Mesoamerica. During his tenure, Hans increasedthe company revenue by 32% through an expansion of their customer base across variousindustries, as well as by opening multiple new factory locations.
Hans Kohlsdorf is not only a shrewd businessman, but also a strong advocate for enhancing the well-being of all individuals. He believes in various avenues for achieving this goal, such as facilitating convenient mobility, promoting social inclusivity for underprivileged communities, and ensuring affordable access to energy resources. In light of the Mexican energy sector's transition towards a more open electricity market, accommodating advancements like Distributed Generation and Smart Grids, Hans, alongside experienced partners, took the initiative to establish Energy to Market (E2M). E2M stands as one of the earliest wholesale electricity suppliers, traders, and service providers.
Furthermore, as a managing partner at Advisory Board Architects, Hans provides guidance and counsel to boards of directors and advisory boards within large corporations, family-owned businesses, and private equity firms. Their distinctive pride lies in being the first global company exclusively dedicated to designing, constructing, implementing, and evaluating transformative boards that possess a high-impact nature, strategically supporting management endeavors.
