I am a retired Professor of Microbiology from the University of Illinois medical school but beside being a scientist I am really a social scientist interested in knowing and fixing how our society, especially education, works and how it impacts our society affecting the lives of millions of students.

I believe we learn better and faster when knowledge is integrated not fragmented; the latter being the format practiced by our universities and colleges which not only prolongs learning but also makes learning difficult.

Based on this premise, I have founded the Center for Integrative Learning and the Science skills Center, see links below: http://www.centerforintegrativelearning.org and http://www.scienceskillscenter.org.

WHERE LEARNING IS DONE VIA SHORT COURSES AND INTERNSHIPS WHERE SCIENCE IS TAUGHT IN A HANDS-ON FASHION USING THE ACTUAL SCIENCE INSTRUMENTS SCIENTISTS USE TO DO SCIENCE.

I FIRMLY BELIEVE THAT YOUR FUTURE DOES NOT DEPEND ON WHAT YOU LEARN IN SCHOOLS BUT WHAT YOU LEARN ON YOUR OWN WHICH MAKES YOU VERSATILE AND FUNCTIONAL ENABLING YOU TO CARVE YOUR OWN UNIQUE PLACE IN THE WORLD.

CHECK OUT THE INTERNSHIPS AVAILABLE AT THE FOLLOWING SITES
