Hari-kirtana das

Washington DC

I've had a life-long interest in yoga, beginning my study of asana, meditation, and yoga philosophy as a teenager and spending my early twenties living full-time in yoga ashrams and intentional spiritual communities. I expanded my yoga practice at the Jivamukti Yoga School in New York City in 2007 and became a certified Jivamukti Yoga teacher in 2009. My classes combine challenging poses embedded in natural, eloquent sequences with detailed instruction on how to move into each pose and an eclectic music mix that speaks to specific themes of yoga philosophy. My workshops, seminars, and Teacher Training modules are intended to be thoroughly engaging, thought provoking, and very participatory. I'm registered with the Yoga Alliance (E-RYT 200, RYT 500), hold an 800-hour Jivamukti Yoga teaching certification, speak regularly on the relationship of traditional yoga philosophy to contemporary life, and teach classes, workshops, and yoga teacher training modules throughout the mid-Atlantic region. I also lead kirtans as a part of DC Supersonic Kirtan, a program that brings ecstatic chanting to different yoga studios around the Washington DC area every month. I writes regularly about the relevance of yoga philosophy in the contemporary world on my website: yogablog.hari-kirtana.com.
