When a person is born, throughout their life they develop a certain degree of self-respect for their self. No one can teach self-respect. It comes from within a person. Three things that are essential to gaining self respect are money, education, and family.

Money is a needed material object that a person needs to acquire self respect. In a society that is filled with opportunities to achieve greatness no matter their race or their back ground people are viewed as lazy if they do not have money. For example homeless people living on the street usually do not have very much self respect because of the way they are treated and viewed by the majority of the people in our society. Money also makes people feel important or feel like they have accomplished something by earning more money than they need for their essential items they need.

For most people feeling smart is a necessity for self respect. Getting an education helps with self confidence because you set a goal accomplished it. Having an intelligent conversation with a person is also a way to prove to your self that you are intelligent. With an education there are more job opportunities which will result in high pay and that is usually more enjoyable for the worker.

A good Family structure is also a necessary part to gaining self respect. People must be able to express their feeling on a day to day basis about what is going on in their life. If this does not occur then most people get agitated because they have all their emotions balled up inside and no one to tell how they feel. A family member is a good usually a person that will listen to tour problem and try to assist you with what ever you need to be happy. A family member is also a good person to share ideas with because they are not afraid to tell the truth and make changes to ideas that you might believe strongly about.
