I'm a software engineer who enjoys tackling complex and oddball problems, often ones that require more than one layer of understanding to solve.
I'm happiest working in C# and .NET, but over the years I've worked on all kinds of backend systems, mobile applications, cloud services, hardware integrations, distributed systems and even games. I've used everything from ASP.NET, Azure and Flutter to C++, smart cards, NFC, BLE, Unity and Unreal Engine.
Much of my work involves taking something unfamiliar, half-baked or vaguely defined and figuring out how it works, then implementing a solution. This could involve designing an integration from the ground up, tracing a tricky production issue across application and infrastructure boundaries, stepping into a codebase I don't understand and/or working with third-party vendors to get a bunch of different systems to play nice together.
I love hands-on work with diverse tasks, where I can take ownership over a problem and have the freedom to actually solve it. I love architecture and technical design, but I want to actually build the thing, rather than just discussing about building the thing all day.
Much of the work I've done outside of commercial software development involves games, game preservation, VRChat worlds and open-source projects. After all, this is why I got into software development in the first place: because I love making things.
