Harold Card

Middletown, NY

Born in Brooklyn, NY, Harold’s family moved to Newburgh when he was just six months old. At age seven Harold moved to Paterson, NJ where his artistic talent continued to be encouraged. He attended Arts High School in Newark, NJ, where he excelled and was awarded a scholarship to the prestigious Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art.

Upon his graduation, Harold moved to Middletown, NY where he founded Designwise Advertising and Art Studio. His strong beliefs in the power of the human spirit eventually led him to become an internationally renowned motivational speaker.

For the past 40 years, Harold has lived on a farm with his wife Kathleen. During this time Harold has produced thousands of drawings, paintings, sculptures and meticulously, illustrated diaries. His subjects are often personal, such as the paintings of his family, his pets, his home, his friends, as well as, nearby farms and animals.

In his paintings Harold demonstrates a wide range of styles and skills, including the work of the French, and American Impressionists. Each painting is different and each presents a unique set of problems that need to be resolved. Some might take only hours to complete as they quickly develop with such a sureness they seem to paint themselves, while others might be more of a struggle and they can take weeks or months to resolve.

Harold’s goal is to create everyday and indulge in the pleasure and sometimes pain of this process.
