Harold Seth Knight
Silver Spring, Maryland, USA
I was born in New York City, in 1967 and lived in the United States until I was 19 years-old. I left the US permanently to study Spanish language, literature and linguistics at university in Madrid, Spain, where I lived for 22 years. I have completed doctorate courses in Spanish language literature, but not a thesis; I have worked mostly as a language teacher of both Spanish and English, and as a writer-in both Spanish and English, as well. I have spent many summers and holidays in Zimbabwe, where my mother and her husband live, and in the neighboring countries of Sub-Saharan Africa. As of October, 2008 I reside once again in the United States, near Washington DC, with my son and father. And I am most troubled by the society I have come back to, in the way people live and are treated, and by a certain containment of human vitality by consumer society that, when I was a child, had not come to impose itself on individuals the way it does now.
