Harrison Smith

I am a Master's student in sociology, Queen's Unviersity, Kingston, Canada.

My research focuses on surveillance studies, and I am currently employed as a Research Assistant for the Surveillance Studies Centre, a world-class research initiative headed by Professor David Lyon.

My thesis will explore the political economy of border surveillance as seen from the theoretical framework of Actor Network Theory. As such I am interested in the creation of ubiquitous and invisible forms of social control, and the commodification of risk. My supervisor is Professor David Murakami Wood.

When not researching, you will find me teaching and practicing vinyasa and power yoga at a local studio. I am also a freelance photographer and am getting into road biking. Thanks for viewing.
