Getting to Know Me
I'm Carlton Harrison, Co-Owner of Southern Empire Inc.an expiring rap artist, producer & engineer in the music game. I'm entrepreneur thats always trying to gain more knowledge about the music industry as an artist also on the marketing end the thoughts of the consumers. When I'm not handling business I'm profiting my craft mixing & engineering, making beats or got my pen & pad steady writing new lyrics for a songs. Yes, I'm old school I still write my flows in a notebook not a smartphone. I do all this so I can put out better quality music in order to gain more customers helping me to become a major figure in the music industry. Your average joe from La Grange, Georgia who has been around music mostly my whole life in some shape, form or fashion. My Brother & our friends formed a group called "Shadow Figures" my brother James Harrison & my 2 best friends Treager Simpson & Travis Towns recording ourselves with a karaoke machine making a couple of beats with our keyboards using Cakewalk & Magix v2000. After our peers hearing us said they liked what we did that gave us the confident to keep making music. We finished the album but by then we had added another member to our group Detron Davenport so we figured we needed to change the name and we did to "Southern Empire".We named the CD "Grade A"printed out a 1000copies to see how we were going to do sold out the first week.
With the group getting local recognition creating a buzz in the streets my dad thought it would be smart to trademark the name & get our ASCAP cards copyright our music instead just mailing the cd to ourselves the bootleg way. In up getting a distribution deal through Rosemont Records/Sony Universal that fell apart because of ego's with the group disbanded. Still was able with 3 member staying me, my brother & Travis put a official album with my brother called(Southern Empire Presents: Scoop"Midas"24KG "Ova-Looked"). Couldn't never get back on track though it never was the same.
I worked at Yamaha for 7 yrs taking a break to only find out music is what I love & want to do. So, I enrolled at Full Sail in '13 for my BS in Music Production & will graduate this year. Now what we can do at SE is record, mix & master the record for a fee. Put together a complete package how the artists want & fully invested 110%.
