Student in Athens
Hello, I'm Harrison Cribbs, a mechancial engineering major at the University of Georgia. All my life, 4-H has played a major role in my social and professional life. 4-H is a positive youth developement program that I started in the 4th grade by presenting on a research topic and going to summer camp. This sparked my interested in 4-H and I continued to compete in District Project Achievement every year. Through this, I competed in categories such as cooking, instrumental performing arts, and environmental sciences. During this time, I also held numerous leadership positions throughout school and met many of the friends I have today. As a junior and senior member of the Northeast district board of directors, I have developed skills in planning and working with others which has been critical to my education and future in my career. Beyond highschool, I have worked for two years as a summer camp counselor. Through this, I have lifeguarded, led hiking trails, recreational games, and have made many friends, including my roommate now. I also learned professional presentation and networking skills to use in my career and pursuit of internships/co-ops. Through this, and connections as a counselor to 4-H alumni, I have been put in contact with numerous job and leadership opportunities. Beyond professional help, 4-H has also been a way I have been able to give back to my community through service projects and more. My district office has led numerous events that benefit the community, and I had the privilege of organizing and leading one myself for my community as well. Thus, this major aspect of my life has been paramount to my social and academic success.
