Harrison Detten

Lubbock, Tx

Harrison Detten is an undergraduate freshman seeking a major through Texas Tech University's prestigious Energy Commerce program at the Rawls College of Business. After having first hand experience with working with landowners through his experience in the local West Texas farming industry, Harrison plans to channel this experience into the oil and gas field, particularly in the land management sector. Throughout his educational experience in Energy Commerce, Harrison has maintained a balance between achieving phenomenal grades and being involved within the local community. One of his greatest volunteer experiences involves mentoring middle school students through the Big Brothers Big Sisters Program. Aside from his volunteer experience, Harrison has also excelled in academics. Graduating as valedictorian of his high school class and being on the dean's list are only a few of these prestigious academic honors.

By choosing to study in the Energy Commerce field, Harrison hopes to provide a strong link between the landowner and the petroleum development company so that both benefit in the highest degree possible with every business transaction that occurs between the two in the petroleum industry. His strong roots in the farming industry will help guide him in insuring that the landowner's rights and best interests are preserved and protected in every decision made concerning oil exploration on their land.
