Teaching at different times either in the sciences, such as biology, chemistry, or physiology/anatomy, or in English, Ms. Harrison has worked for over 35 years in public high schools, including at John Steinbeck's alma mater, Salinas High. During the years when she was teaching the sciences, she missed the creativity, discussions, and interactions of the English classes; while teaching English classes meant she missed the labs, the problem solving, and the experimentation. Life and work has been a dichotomy of choices, a choice between two passions.
