Harry Moore

Harry Moore has considerable experience as a business leader and company doctor. He qualified in engineering and has worked in both the private and voluntary sectors. He is strong in hands on scenarios requiring change, innovation and rationalisation. He is a good leader and has managed a number of businesses of up to about 500 employees in size. His Turnaround projects include HunterPrint plc, which was losing £1.5m per month, where he acted as interim MD and recovered cash flow in six months and Silver Cross Prams Ltd where he became Chairman and MD having downsized it from 450 employees to 90 to turn it into profit prior to selling the business.

Harry thrives in situations where there is a need to implement dynamic change, meet challenges, achieve objectives and improve effectiveness in real terms. He has strategic vision and particular experience in the introduction of change and innovation necessary to increase levels of performance. He is strong in situations requiring difficult decisions and aggressive cost reduction. He has a keen sense of community involvement and has been instrumental in setting up and running a number of highly successful projects across the UK in partnership with the DTI and Regional Development Agencies. This includes the East Midlands Business Recovery Scheme, created by Harry and funded by the DTI. The project resulted in saving 135 businesses and recovering £35m of HMRC debt. His methods are innovative and include taking chief executives on hikes across the Yorkshire Dales where they discuss turnaround strategies and options in a phone and hassle free environment and talk as they walk.

He also set up the Merseyside Turnaround Programme with MSIF and other partners as well as the Merseyside Family Business Initiative. As well as being a Principal Consultant and team leader with two major Consultancy firms he has held senior board level appointments in a number of companies.

On a personal note he founded the Rainbows Children's Hospice, The Laura Centre, a bereavement counseling service for those affected by the death of a child and children affected by death and COPE, the children's cancer charity. He is a published author and has received an honorary doctorate from the University of Loughborough as well as two Beacon Fellowship Awards.
