I am a poet, writer and editor with a social conscience and a passion for the natural world. Much of my work seeks to highlight threats faced by our natural environment and to encourage readers in helping to preserve it for future generations. So I suppose that I'm something of an activist too.

Widely published in literary journals and anthologies, I am the author of seven full collections of poetry and have compiled and edited two anthologies: I Write Who I Am: an anthology of Upstart poetry (2011) and For Rhino in a Shrinking World: an international anthology (2013).

Coming Home, my new anthology of poetry by writers with a close connection to the Eastern Cape city of Grahamstown, will be published in 2019.

I write a poetry column for Grocott's Mail, South Africa's oldest independent newspaper, called 'Poetic Licence'.
