Dr. Harvey Berger

With over 45 years of experience in the field, Harvey Berger, M.D. is an accomplished physician-scientist and biotechnology executive.
Dr. Berger received a B.A. in Biochemistry from Colgate University before attending medical school at Yale School of Medicine. He completed postgraduate training as a visiting fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital and as a resident in the departments of internal medicine and diagnostic radiology at Yale-New Haven Hospital.
Dr. Berger served as the President of Research and Development at the biotechnology company Centocor from 1886-1991, before forming his own pharmaceutical company, ARIAD Pharmaceuticals. There he served as founder, chairman and chief executive officer until 2015. In 2016, he assumed Emeritus status, where he remained until 2019. As Chairman and CEO of ARIAD Pharmaceuticals, he oversaw the development of five new medications for patients with various forms of difficult-to-treat cancers. From 2017-2018, Dr. Berger served as the Executive Chairman of Medinol, a company that focuses on the science of cardiovascular intervention and is a leading cardiovascular device developer and manufacturer.
Over 150 original papers, editorials, reviews, and chapters written by Dr. Berger have been published in academic and professional journals. He has also received numerous awards in the fields of Research, Frontier Science and Technology, Entrepreneurship, Business, Medicine and more. Most recently, he was awarded the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award in New England, and the Gold Stevie award as Executive of the Year, Pharmaceuticals.
Currently, Dr. Berger serves as a governing trustee for the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, as well as a trustee for the Cameron Boyce Foundation and Concord Academy.
