As a Podiatrist, I have 8 years of clinical experience providing assessment and treatment to clients. I graduated with a Bachelor of Health Science (Podiatry) at Queensland University of Technology in 2006 and since then have accumulated experience across a wide range of services from sports medicine podiatry, running injury clinic, private podiatry clinics, community clinics and have worked at one of Singapore's largest tertiary hospital.
I am a dynamic clinician who strives to provide optimal patient entered care and am able to provide various modalities in treatment and management in foot care.
Having worked at a multidisciplinary national hospital, I held responsibilities that involved assessment, management and treatment of complex high risk diabetic foot ulcers, wounds and pathological foot conditions.
Some of my achievements include being awarded Singapore General Hospital Outstanding Service Awards for 3 consecutive years in 2011 to 2013 and Singapore Quality Health Service Awards in 2010 (Silver), 2012 (Gold), and 2014 (Star).
I have experience in treating foot issues involving arthritis, bunions, corns and calluses, fungal or ingrown toetails, plantar warts, diabetes, and soft issue injury. Apart from the prevention and management of foot problems, I am able to advise on footwear and orthotics (custom-made inserts for your shoes).
With a special interest in biomechanics and sports podiatry, I developed the biomechanics arm of Podiatry within the hospital department and this involved the setting up of Gait Lab for the biomechanical analysis of clients' gait and foot related injuries and issues. Regularly, I held consultative meetings with Orthopaedics and other allied health colleagues for the purpose of client care.
I am an avid runner with special interest in the types of footwear and its effects on our running gait and body movement. I have provided public talks and contributed to magazine articles on this topic. Apart from the mentioned clinical skills, I am also trained in the use of Kinesio Taping and Rocktape and have a Level 1 certification in Foot Mobilisation Technique.
I am competent in the following languages: English, Cantonese, Bahasa Melayu (Malay), Hokkien, and Mandarin.
