An apparel merchandiser, also known as a fashion merchandiser, is the person who conceives and implements merchandising displays in retail environments focused on the sales of clothing and accessories. She may dress mannequins, create fashion-focused scenes in store windows and design promotional graphics for in-store promotions.

This position normally involves much more than merchandising. Anapparel merchandiser is often the pulse of the retail environment, the person depended upon to predict fashion trends and incorporate her vision into the store's inventory. A large part of her job is to keep herself educated on the latest fashion fads and styles around the world and make sure her store is the first to carry cutting-edge clothing and accessories
