Clare and Jessie Stephens
Clare and Jessie Stephens are a set of 25-year-old twins who live in Sydney, Australia. Clare has completed her Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Sydney and is currently finishing her Masters of Research at Macquarie University. Jessie studied a Bachelor of Arts (jokeswerentfunnythefirsttime) majoring in Modern History and Gender Studies at the University of Sydney, and has a Master of Research. They freelance for New Matilda, and currently work at Mamamia Women's Network. Mamamia is the largest independent women’s website in Australia, and reaches four million women per month.
We offer some #thinkspiration by critically examining the world around us. Bell Hooks' notion that "media is where the pedagogy is happening" has inspired us to use examples from popular culture to explore complex and exciting ideas. We sense a gap between academia, which can alienate those outside the academy, and contemporary journalism, which assumes it's reader to be a closed-minded halfwit, who cannot consume anything beyond funny pictures and '49 Reasons Why Your Boyfriend Is Unsatisfied But You Don't Even Know Because You Spend Too Much Time Reading Articles On The Internet That Over Capitalize Their Titles And Are Written By Someone Whose Only Qualification Is That They Once Had A Boyfriend.' We seek to bridge that gap by producing stimulating content that challenges and inspires our audience.
