Hassan Adewumi

Hassan Adewumi is a 4th-year medical student at Lagos State University College of Medicine pursuing a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree, with a strong interest in medical research and a particular interest in cardiovascular medicine.
He is a student researcher with experience in research writing, statistical analysis, and the use of data to answer clinically relevant questions. He has presented research abstracts at multiple national conferences and is experienced with research, data analysis, and visualization tools including R, Excel, Power BI, and Tableau. He also has developing experience in literature-based research, including narrative and systematic reviews.
Hassan has held several leadership and research related positions throughout his medical training. He currently serves as the Information and Technical Lead of the LASUMSA Research Journal Club and Director of Research Administration at GAIMS. He previously served as Assistant Programs Director of the Standing Committee on Public Health, NIMSA, and as a Student Ambassador for the National Student Researcher Institute at his institution. He has also gained experience in global health research through a research internship with the Global Consortium of Global Health Action, Leaders and Thinkers (Global-ALT). He is also a member of the Research Unit of Internal Medicine interest group Nigeria.
His long-term aspiration is to become a clinician-scientist, working at the intersection of clinical medicine, research, and data. While cardiovascular medicine is a particular area of interest, Hassan is broadly interested in clinically relevant research and interdisciplinary approaches to improving patient care, with a particular enthusiasm for epidemiology, outcomes research, and the application of quantitative methods to healthcare.
