Hassan Shibly was born in Damascus, Syria. He immigrated to the US at just four years old. He graduated from Magna Cum Laureate with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Hassan Shibly then went on to attend the University at Buffalo School of Law on several scholarship scholarships, where he graduated near the top of his class.

After graduating from law school, Hassan Shibly clerked for the Honorable Eugene H. Nickerson in the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. He then worked as an attorney at two prestigious law firms in New York City before moving to Tampa, Florida, to become the Chief Executive Director (CEO) of CAIR-Florida, the state’s largest Muslim civil rights organization.

Under Hassan Shibly’s leadership, CAIR-Florida has grown to be one of the country's leading Muslim civil rights organizations. He has also been a major force in building alliances with people of different faiths and backgrounds.
