Hi there, I’m Ha. Nice of you to check the page about.me. Let me introduce myself.

First of all I'm a father and husband! I consider myself lucky enough to understand that time spent as father with a young family is probably one of life's most precious and priceless commodities. For this reason working remote is a blessing, especially when one can live in an environment where time just seems to go by more consciously. I am well aware that I am lucky enough to do so.

My professional passion is to work with people from all areas and to be the one to build bridges through understanding and consensus, no matter the context. Most often this is in a context of remote software engineering teams, in areas like web, mobile, gaming and AR/VR. Along with itI find myself in the business management context.

My style of management is quite people and problem/solution focused, rules and protocols are secondary. I'm direct, but most of the time consciously constructive. In doing so I often am able to achieve more in contexts with a tight runway.

Why remote? When you're funding your own product development, you just have to find ways to stretch that runway as long as you can. I've been working with remote teams since 2000 and I love the eagerness and dedication you can find in Europe / Asia. A great way to double or triple your runway.

Miscommunication? Misunderstanding? Well that's my specialty right there! With empathy and listening with attention I'm able to build bridges between all stakeholders. For me, getting along with the team members who complain often is often a great source of information. And to prioritise time to listen and respect as many views as possible, I often am able to get support for the most productive suggestions.

I pride myself in always learning a bit of the local language of the teams I work with. So far I've picked up survival level language skills in French, Russian, Portugese, Spanish. But I'll do pretty ok in conversation in Dutch, English, German and Vietnamese.
