Although writing has never necessarily been my expertise, one facet of writing has always captivated me. For as long as I can remember I have loved persuasive writing. The task of trying to convince someone of something has always been one that I enjoy. I remember getting some of my first persuasive writing drafts as a middle school student. I quickly found that I significantly prefer writing persuasive papers compared to informational papers or reports. I became a better writer when I started trying to view all of my writing as persuasive. Even if the topic is more informational, simply conceptualizing my writing as a way to persuade my professor to give me a better grade helps me to write.
When I was in middle school I had a test where an essay section was required. The prompt for the essay section was pulled from a bank that contains various prompts. I was lucky enough to get a prompt for a persuasive essay. I knew I would make a good grade as soon as I read the prompt and I was correct. Ever since then I have been fascinated with improving my persuasion skills both in writing and in every other aspect of my life.
