Hayk Oltaci (Hayko) is a master textile artist with over 40 years of expertise in hand-knotting, restoring, and naturally dyeing fine rugs and tapestries.

Born in Istanbul and trained in Strasbourg (1979–1988), he founded Hayko Fine Rugs and Tapestries in New York City in 1988. For more than three decades he served collectors, designers, and institutions from his galleries on Lexington Avenue and later in Long Island City.

In 2020, Hayko returned to his ancestral homeland and established Woolway Studio in Argavand, just outside Yerevan, Armenia. Woolway is a fully sustainable workshop focused on eco-friendly yarn production, traditional Armenian handweaving, natural dyeing, and artisan empowerment. The studio also hosts cultural retreats and features a guesthouse for visitors seeking immersive textile experiences.

Guided by the philosophy “The universe flows like a river; surrender to its current,” Hayko continues to bridge ancient craft with contemporary design while preserving Armenian heritage and promoting harmony with nature.
