Hayley Metcalf
Student in Dallas, Texas
I am a native to Arizona, a resident of Texas, and a citizen of the world. Traveling the globe has captured my heart over and over again as I explore each new continent, country, and island. My love for exploration began when I was twelve years old becoming a certified scuba diver in Hawaii. After that, I was hooked on experiencing what the world has to offer and began my lifelong journey of world travel.
As a high school student, I experienced something that has shaped me into who I am today more than anything else. After 20 years of marriage, my parents filed for divorce, which forced me to become a strong, independent adolescent. Since both parents worked, I took on a lot of the responsibility of caring for my younger sister. Becoming that compassionate and empathetic person took time, but led me straight towards one of my life passions. Caring for children. The problem solving, patience, and imagination that my five years of working as a summer camp counselor and childcare provider required, allowed me to perfect this set of skills.
Also in high school, I learned what it was like to lead a large team. Leading my varsity swim and dive team to the title of state champions as its team captain, taught me the feeling of achieving a goal after doing everything necessary to perform. I continue to strive for success and aim to bring both my goal-oriented behavior and my competitive edge to my everyday life as I did throughout high school.
As a college student, I have deliberately sought out work experiences that would allow me to explore my interests in working on teams, thinking strategically, and implementing creative solutions. My experiences have given me a comprehensive understanding of the communications, marketing, and media industries, and I believe that I am particularly well prepared for a role where I can use the skills I have learned in the past, but also continue to learn how to define objectives, determine strategies, and create tactics to achieve a goal. My passion for travel, culture, and adventure mixed with my love for marketing, advertising, and sales leads me toward an eventual career in international marketing.
