A lifelong artist, organizer, and youthworker for nearly 20 years, Stephany Koch Hazelrigg lives deeply and directly from her belief in the radical power of art and community to create space, healing, and change. Stephany has worked as a facilitator, teaching artist, creative education consultant, community organizer and advocate within public schools, juvenile detention centers, group homes, universities, museums, after-school and summer camp programs and retreats with multiple community centers, organizations and institutions throughout the Pacific Northwest. An organic poet, painter, performer, and textile artist she knits her inherent artistry for living and learning into all she creates.
Stephany created and directed the award-winning original social justice theater project The Naked Truth On Stereotypes, founded the grassroots arts-based activist collective, Social HeARTistry Educators, and keeps planting seeds with other creative programming and partnerships from the Yakima Valley to Olympia and South Seattle. As a genre and gender blending XicanX Stephany's heARTistry often exists in and explores the intersections of identity and power within individuals and institutions. She is a mother to a most amazing four year old human, hugger, and artivist.
