Heather Brannon

Heather Woodworth Brannon completed two Master's degrees in Musicology and Computer Music Research from the Peabody Conservatory of Music, Johns Hopkins University in 2010. Her research focused on composer Jean Eichelberger Ivey, founder of the Peabody Electronic Music Studio. She also does interdisciplinary research with music and psychology. Her research has culminated in two Master's theses: "Jean Eichelberger Ivey: Current Research and Interviews with Former Colleagues and Students," and a portfolio of three research projects, including additional studies on Ivey.

Heather received her Bachelor's degree in clarinet performance from Peabody in 2008. Prior to her studies at Peabody, Heather studied with Robert DiLutis at the Eastman School of Music. Heather has also completed her Orff Schulwerk certification at the Eastman School of Music.

She has taught clarinet at the Baltimore School for the Arts and the Peabody Preparatory. Heather has received numerous awards including a Johns Hopkins University Center for Educational Resources Technology Fellowship grant, a Johns Hopkins University Provost Undergraduate Research award, and a Peabody Career Development Grant. She has participated in masterclasses with Alexander Fiterstein, Greg Raden, Marin Alsop and Libby Larsen.

Heather is currently Director of Middle School Music at the Montessori School of Raleigh in North Carolina. She is also the Children's Choir Director at Hudson Memorial Presbyterian Church. In her spare time, she enjoys cooking, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Sam, who is also an avid musician and composer.
