I grew up solely in San Antonio, Texas, but I would consider myself a New Mexican-Texan, as my whole family is from New Mexico except for myself. Why I would say this, is because I grew up with the best of both worlds from both cultures. My mother's hatch green chili enchiladas would be the essence of this, combining the New Mexican delicacy with one of the most Tex-Mex dishes there are. Frequent trips back "home" while I was younger inspired one of my first major interests that I still hold today, which is my love for nature. The beautiful views, amazing scents of pine, and even lighting of the Jemez Mountains in the summertime made me realize what I missed out on in the city. I love where I'm from, but there is something about the simplicity and peacefulness of the wilderness that I am hooked on. I am now a self proclaimed wilderness preservation activist because of my love for everything outdoors, including animals. I have a number of pets, with three dogs, a cat, and a rat named Leo that I all love very much.

Although, nature and animals aren't my only interests because I was not born under a rock. In the seventh grade I picked up a basketball and have continued to play since then. Now, I play varsity basketball for Clark High School after all these years. My father was the main person who pushed me to be the best I could be, and this was not only in Basketball, but other areas as well. He introduced me to the importance of self sufficiency and being able to do what you need to do on your own. I learned valuable lessons during hot summers on the construction site working my tail off at the age of 12 to now. I learned how to fix numerous things, read a tape measurer, and most of all that I do not want to be a carpenter when I am in my 40's. It is a wonderful skill to have undoubtedly, but going to college seems like a much better route for me so I can later create my own not-so hands on type of business.
