New York City

Hi there! Welcome to my page. My name is Humberto Cruz and I am a yoga practitioner and guide based in New York City. I have been practicing this discipline for several years and exploring different styles like vinyasa-power yoga/Iyengar, Ashtanga and Strala yoga. After dealing with unbalanced eating and body image issues for more than a decade and physical injuries linked to overexercising, there is not doubt in my mind that yoga is truly the science of healing. The practice of yoga is just more than postures, sacred texts, or following moral codes; it is a lifestyle of wellness and balance at turbulent and joyful times alike. Nothing makes me happier than sharing yoga with people, so please follow me through the different social media (links bellow).

Upon moving to NYC in 2012, my yoga practice has completely changed. I started practicing at Strala Yoga and my physical practice evolved to mean much more than a moving meditation, but also a refuge where I could breathe easy and explore the limitless potential of my body and mind. The Strala system is based on the quality of movement rather than posing. Moreover, I believe this system to be the best healing practice for the body and mind, for we drop the struggle and rather focus on breathing easy and exploring and getting into our bodies. I received my 200-Hour-Ready-to-Lead certification in the Spring of 2013 and I am happier than ever sharing yoga with people all around me.

When I lead a class, you can expect to be challenged physically and mentally, but also move and breath with ease, which will automatically guide you to explore your own body. Yoga is an essential part of my life and I consider the practice to be a miraculous manifestation, but it does not mean we have to take it that seriously. In my classes you can also expect to laugh a lot. When you are relaxed, you drop the struggle and hence make hard things easy. I like to incorporate a lot of inversions in flows of standing sequences, and a lot of core work in sitting series. When we understand our core, we realize that besides our mind, this is where our strength (our powerhouse) lies and when used intelligently, your practice will have no limits.

I look forward to working together to develop a plan that addresses your needs in order to accomplish balance of body, mind and spirit.
