Helen Choi
Having worked extensively with various radio, news, television, magazine, theatre and grassroots organizations based on the principles of social justice, I have accumulated over 12 years of work experience in the field of communications and creative events coordination.
I completed two professional certificates in Public Relations from University of Toronto and Volunteer Management from Humber College with high honors. I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Carleton University. Through my education and professional membership with the Canadian Public Relations Society, I also strive for excellence in adhering to industry code of ethics and standards.
Currently, I am a part-time staff for the ReelWorld Film Festival where I manage the 5,000 media and 2,000 sponsorship contact database. I coordinate special events connecting disenfranchised youths with Canadian film industry experts for mentoring opportunity through a free film screening throughout multi-racial communities in Toronto. I also sit on the Board of Directors for the Parkdale Community Food Bank. Previously, I worked at another student union at U of T in a similar role conducting Events and Communications Coordination with APUS as the Liaison Officer and for OPIRG as the CRO of their elections.
In all of my work, I remained professional and worked hard in producing outstanding results while at the same time being resourceful. I bring an easy going, low-stress attitude when having to work under multiple tight deadlines and thrive under pressure.
