I'm Heather Driscoll, a travel journalist hailing from California and currently residing in Cairo, Egypt. Here’s what you need to know:

The Blog:

“Driver, Surprise Me” was born on the road somewhere between the beaches of Phuket, Thailand and the depths of the Laotian jungle during my 5-month travels across Southeast Asia in 2013.

It began as a trip chronicle but truth be told, the expat lifestyle didn’t leave much energy for immediately reliving my experiences here on the web. What you see now is a collection of my travel images past and present, current anecdotes, and plenty of learn-it-from-me foriegner moments while I now call Egypt home.

The Personality:

Speaking of the personal, regardless of where I am in the world you will always catch me in the background, pen and paper firmly within my grasp. Capturing the essence and culture of each place through a stream of sentences is the most rewarding journey I have taken yet. Writing is my passion and I'm fortunate to say I’m living my dream.

Additionally, I’m the world’s worst snorkeler, an adrenaline junkie, curry-enthusiast and dancing queen highly addicted to squats and booty shakes.

The Professional:

I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism from San Jose State University, with a concentration in print and a minor in Anthropology.

The majority of my career has been spread between magazines and newspapers, having only recently left the newsroom for the “glamorous” life of an English language teacher to further quench my thirst for travel and helping underprivileged children.
