Heather Stanton

I am an enthusiastic and hard-working Primary teacher, qualifying in June 2010. I studied for a French specialism during my PGCE- having a French minor as part of my BA - though I have qualifications in other languages which I am in the process of upgrading. During my PGCE I had the oppotunity to explore the French education system when I undertook a placement in Paris. For this I taught a class who were very diverse in terms of culture, religion, ethnicity and social background. This allowed me to be an equal opportunities teacher in an envrionment where being open minded and patient was particularly important, as over 50% of the class spoke languages other than French or English as a first language. To date I have taught a number of children with varying degrees of additonal needs and this is something I have developed an interest in. My curriculum strengths other than languages are literacy and history, which I very much enjoy teaching, and cross-curricular work which I have undertaken on all of my UK placements. I am ideally looking for a position which will allow me to accrue time for my NQT induction although I value the opportunity to gain any worthwhile teaching experience.
