Heather DeBerry-Stephens

Memphis, TN

Heather DeBerry Stephens, of Memphis, TN is the wife of Dale L. Stephens. Fourteen years of marriage has blessed them with two sons and two daughters, ages 12, 10, 7, and 2. Heather, a native of Jackson, TN, is a 1991 graduate of Jackson Central Merry High School and a 1995 graduate of Lane College. Currently, Heather is the full-time administrator at Abundant Life Fellowship Church, under the auspices of Pastor James E. Henderson. Heather’s childhood, being displaced from her own birth mother, placed a heavy passion within her heart to encourage mothers. With a heart to help mothers grow by self-examination and commitment to Godly values in raising children, Heather desires to stark a positive, “self-help” movement for mothers of all walks of life, through the message of her book, “Mama Didn’t Half-step”. Heather believes refraining from simple shortcomings will lead mothers toward playing a significant role in restoring the family. Heather’s witty catch-phrase, “Just don’t half-step,” is a message that she hopes will penetrate in the hearts and minds of mothers all over the world.

Are you a mother who has tried everything imaginable to reach your child and nothing seems to work? Are you a mother who has no other parental support and has to do it all? Maybe your career is so demanding that you simply don’t have time to be the parent you should be. In parenting, there are many reasons a mother would want to throw her hands in the air. I’m a mother and believe me, I understand. However, I say to you, don’t worry and don’t lose hope.

That's why I decided to form the "Don't Half-step" Movement. The purpose of the "Don't Half-step" Movement is to expose and address the negative social condition of today's youth. Many modern day parenting practices have robbed parents of their effectiveness in rearing obedient, disciplined children. Children today are more influenced by the culture of music, the fictitious accounts in movies, and the embarrassing behaviors of reality. The self-help workshops will give us an opportunity to acknowledge the current condition of the family, and discuss ways to correct many issues through simple, practical measures. Honest, self-reflection will help mothers to identify personal shortcomings, and will assist mothers in becoming stronger as mothers restore the family.

Join me and other mothers for the "FREE" 5 weeks Self- Help Workshops, "Don't Half-step" for MOMS, Thursday, November 21st from 6p-7pm
