Heather Farmer

My purpose in life is to help people and I am fulfilling that dream through the creation of "Are You Shining", a place where you can get guidance from a down to earth, intelligent, caring person whom will not judge you. I want to help mentor people to "Shine", to improve any aspect of their life by utilizing my educational and professional career experience and offering this service for those whom do not want to deal with the stigma attached to seeking professional help from a therapist or psychologist. I have a BA in Psychology from East Carolina University and a MS in Psychology with a concentration on Child Development and Family Relations. I have worked as a case worker for individuals living with mental illness, developmental disorders, behavioral disorders, and/or substance abuse problems and in this experience I learned that this is what I am meant to do, because I'm good at it and I feel this is my God given purpose in life. I have also been a advocate for a 24 hours Rape Crisis and Child Abuse Prevention Center and earned 35 hours of continuing education in the study of mental health from AHEC
