Heather A. Vrana

Heather A. Vrana is an Assistant Professor of History at Southern Connecticut State University. Dr. Vrana's research interests include modern Central American social movements and nationalisms; youth culture and politics beyond 1968; and mobility, disability, queer embodiment, race, and modernity. Dr. Vrana is also interested in the transnational dandy and all else related to men’s fashion history.
Her research addresses broad questions of identity, governance, and community, particularly the ongoing influence and undoing of Liberalism through democracy and autonomy.
Dr. Vrana is the author of several articles and book reviews, a monograph entitled Do Not Mess with Us!: Guatemalan University Students and the State(forthcoming, University of California Press), and a source reader, Beyond 1968: Anti-Colonial Texts from Central American Student Movements (forthcoming, Edinburgh University Press).
