Heather Day
I am a currently living and teaching in Brooklyn, NY. My interests are in youth mentoring, education, social justice, violence prevention, and hip-hop arts for educational and therapeutic purposes.
I am pursuing a Master of Social Work at Fordham University. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from Connecticut College with a BA in American Studies, a minor in Human Development and a certificate in Community Action and Public Policy. Through my studies, community leadership positions, and career experiences I have developed skills in teaching, facilitation, volunteer recruitment, project management, writing, research, media literacy, public speaking, and interdisciplinary thinking and problem solving. This has prepared me to be an effective community leader, project manager, youth mentor, educator, and advocate for the disenfranchised.
In my free time I enjoy taking advantage of the beautiful, dynamic city I'm in, delving deep into the magic that is hip-hop, being a faithful subscriber to Hulu and Netflix, and building the social ties that give life meaning and keep busy people like myself sane.
