Heather Kerfoot is the Operations Manager for the Sault Tribe Health Division. She serves as the primary resource for Organization's accreditation for Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) or equivalent. Heather prepares and ensures compliance with the standards that are incorporated in all aspects of the delivery of care in all of the organizations work processes. She supervises, directs and provides leadership to emergency preparedness team members and coordinates with designated safety team members.
Heather is the former Health Education Supervisor/Manager and the Project Coordinator of the Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country and Tribal Practices and Wellness in Indian Country with the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians. Heather has worked for the Sault Tribe Community Health Department for 10 years and has managed various grants funded from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Michigan Health Endowment Fund, and Indian Health Service (IHS):

She has helped Sault Tribe implement interventions and strategies that improve the health of the Sault Tribe community through culturally adapted policies, systems, and environmental changes, increasing the availability and use of traditional and other healthy foods, opportunities for physical activity and eliminate exposure to second hand smoke, and support community-clinical linkages to prevent and manage heart disease, stroke and type 2 diabetes in all seven counties of the Sault Tribe service area.
Heather, who is a Sault Tribe member, is the Physical Activity (PA) Referral Program and the Diabetes Home Fitness Program’s lead developer. She was also the former chairperson on the Case Management Workgroup.
