Heather Khalifa

Heather Khalifa is a student journalist at Stony Brook University with a concentration in online journalism. Her expected graduation is Spring of 2015.

Khalifa is currently the multimedia editor at The Statesman, where she shoots, edits, and assigns photo projects for the multimedia section of the paper. Prior to this position, she was a staff writer and reporter for the paper, with coverage ranging from events on campus, to major trend and issue stories, and even international affairs.

She is also interning at the Council on Foreign Relations, where she codes pieces for their website, and assists in various multimedia projects, specifically in photo editing. In addition to this, she freelances for Times Beacon Record Newspapers where she was previously an intern during the summer of 2014, as a reporter, writer, photographer, and videographer for the chain of papers covering the North Shore of Long Island.

In addition to shooting for the campus newspaper and for TBR, she continues to shoot photo and video on her own time and for school projects.

Khalifa recently returned from a Journalism Without Walls trip to Istanbul over the Winter 2014 semeter, where she reported as a student foreign correspondent.

Khalifa spends a majority of her time either at Stony Brook, or in Manhattan. She is always on the lookout for new ideas and experiences, with an wide range of interests, from world news and politics to fashion and sports.
