Heather Wurtzel

Heather Wurtzel discovered the joys and benefits of yoga when she was pregnant with her first child in 2002. She found yoga to be a wonderful gift and continued to develop her practice after giving birth. During her second pregnancy, she began studying with Margaret Pierce and eventually began teaching prenatal yoga at the Pierce Yoga Program. As a mother of two small children, Heather realized that yoga was becoming more and more important in her life as well as the lives of her children. When she found YogaKids, she knew it was the perfect way to join her passions, her kids and yoga. Heather became a Certified YogaKids Trainer in the spring of 2007 after completing a yearlong intensive study mastering the YogaKids curriculum. She believes that bringing yoga into the lives of children will help them develop strong bodies, inquisitive minds, loving hearts, and peaceful souls. She also believes that yoga can empower children to believe in themselves and know that they can make a difference in our world. In June of 2008, Heather completed the Classical Yoga Teacher Training program at Kashi Atlanta under the guidance of Swami Jaya Devi and is a registered yoga teacher through Yoga Alliance at the 200 hr level. She continued her training in kids yoga in November 2009 when she attended the Grounded Kids Teacher Training with Cheryl Crawford and Amy Haysman. In January 2010, Heather received her certification in prenatal and postnatal yoga with Stephanie Keach. Heather also completed the DONA birth doula workshop in 2009 and is currently working towards her birth doula certification. Heather lives in Avondale Estates, GA with her husband, Ethan, and her two beautiful children, Olle and Naomi.
