My name is Lindsey Hegenauer and I am a senior at Rider University studying Elementary Education and Fine Arts-Studio Art with a minor in Early Childhood Education.
These past three years at Rider, I have been fortunate to have many great leadership positions towards my professional career as President of Rider’s Student Education Association, Public Relations Chair of Kappa Delta Pi, Treasurer of the Photography Club, and current Vice President of the New Jersey Student Education Association. The jobs I have held during my years at Rider have included: Costumer Service Representative at Rider’s Student Recreation Center, Student Assistant at the Curriculum Resource Center, and Substitute Teacher for Princeton Regional Schools District and a private school called Princeton Junior School. In May 2013, I studied special education at Universidad de Alcala and as a reflection to this experience I created a video montage, which you can find above! Each of this experiences have helped me prepare for this single moment, student teaching.
Starting January 27, 2014, I will begin my Student Teaching journey at Johnson Park Elementary School in a third grade classroom. This last semester at Rider will be an important year for me because this will determine my professional career as a teacher. Upon the closure of my student teaching, I will be graduating with my bachelor’s degree with a double major in Elementary Education and Fine Arts, with a minor in Early Childhood Education and a certification in Leadership.
During the summer 2014, I will be going on a cruise to the bahamas to celebrate my graduation and will continue to substitute teach until the end of the school year. The rest of the summer I will be preparing for my classroom and flying to Denvor, Colorado for the NEA Representative Assembly with teachers from around the country.
