Heidi Wehmeyer

I fell in love with Kenya as a Peace Corps Volunteer. I continue to lead trips to Kenya. When we get to know each other, the world is a better place. I love bringing cultures together to learn from and about each other.

Between trips I am a mixed media artist, desgning art jewelry and other items. I enjoy using antiques, up-cycling vintage, and telling stories with my art. I love gardening, wildlife (I was a wildlife biologist, and an educator too!), travel, music, time with my family and friends.

I have a wonderful life partner, and an awesome son who is 21. We have three godsons in Kenya for whom we raise school fees. After a successful first year crowdfunding for these young men to go to University, I am at it again. Come see the story that has touched so many hearts (at the link below). If you can donate, great, but even if you share it with others, it is a huge help! You may donate at our crowdfunding site:

or, to our PayPal account:

I am working with friends on a NGO, Rose's Wish East Africa Educational Foundation (development stage) to provide all expenses paid scholarships to orphaned youth in East Africa who want to pursue higher education. We will have a special scholarship in Peace and Conflict Resolution. It seems to me a timely endeavor. We will also offer cross-cultural trips with home stays to help raise funds and promote understanding between cultures.Open to any help, ideas, connections, etc.

See https://www.facebook.com/Harambee3Kenya for information on the trip we will lead to Tanzania/Zanzibar in 2016!
