Helen Trencher's personal mission statement is to express the whole of who she is through her creative and educational pursuits. After several stints in the corporate world and earning her Masters in education, she manages to create a life that reflects this mission. As "The Percussion Lady," she has married her love of rhythm, aptitude for performing and formal education into hands-on, targeted and engaging events for all ages: multicultural programming for preschool, pre-K and elementary audiences; hand drum sessions for teens and adults; team and skill building workshops for educators and intact groups; and public performances for such events as The Cherry Creek Arts Festival and the Boulder Public Library's Tellabration.
Helen is also an actor and storyteller. She has appeared in several Denver (CO) area independent films and commercials – including a spot for Public Service of New Mexico. And keep an eye out in 2013 for the premiere of Helen in her first, feature-length film role—as the character, Corey Alden—in the docudrama, CREEP! In addition, Helen has researched, developed and currently performs her living history of Golda Meir's early years, Golda Meir: Choices & Chances.
When not performing or teaching, you can find Helen pursuing her love of writing in two blogs: The Freelance Life: A Creative's Journey to Self Expression & Financial Freedom, is a sparkling new blog that will regularly focus on the joys and challenges of being a freelancer. Helen's second blog, Life Lessons from Lumps of Love, is a humorous and sometimes poignant look at life and living with five rescue kitties.
