Since the spring of 2011, Helen Coggin has applied her skills at JCPenney Portrait Studios in Madison, Wisconsin. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Bachelor’s degree in Photography, Coggin conducts photo shoots for special occasions such as birthdays, holidays, graduations, first communions, and other events. She also schedules appointments and consultations, answers phones, and helps her customers select photo packages.
In addition to her work with JCPenney, Coggin also serves customers as a Barista at Victor Allen’s Coffee in Madison, where she has worked since the fall of 2010.
As a student, Helen Coggin volunteered as Photo Lab Technician. She also found employment as a Gallery Guard at the University’s Institute of Visual Arts. Additionally, Coggin was chosen as an elected officer of FOCUS, the photography club. During her time at the university, she studied art history and photography in Florence, Italy, for a month. She obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Photography in 2010.
In addition, Helen Coggin later has worked with Milwaukee artist Paul Druecke, shooting his artwork at the Green Gallery East. She also achieved acclaim in her own right as a photographer. Coggin’s work has appeared in exhibitions throughout Milwaukee as well as at the Santa Reparata International School of Art in Florence.
Helen Coggin’s broad technical ability includes proficiency with digital and manual SLR cameras in addition to medium- and large-format cameras. Experienced in using Macs and PCs, Coggin also is highly skilled with software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign as well as the Microsoft Office Suite. Coggin currently lives in Madison.
