I am passionate about food.

I have seen many aspects of the food value chain, from the farm, to processing, to retail, and at the restaurant.

My grandparents were -- and still are -- farmers. My father grew up as a farmer and is now a quant. I spent time at an aquaponics farm in Austin; learning to vacuum seed, transplant, and harvest was an eye-opening experience.

Previously, as a tax consultant to my clients' CFOs/tax directors, I spent a significant amount of time with companies involved in agriculture/food: a poultry processor, a meal packager, a hog farm, and a grocery store.

I volunteer my time at a local farm-to-table restaurant in Houston. I have spent over 150 hours at the front-of-house as a busser, server, and expediter. In 2017, I was invited by the owner to invest in their 3rd round, which I accepted. I am excited to see how Dish Society grows!

One of my biggest (and most expensive) hobbies is trying fine dining restaurants. I have been to 18 Michelin-rated restaurants. One of my most memorable experiences was visiting 12 of those restaurants across 5 cities within 7 days; each day spending 2-3 hours eating 3-5 courses for lunch only to eat 7-12 courses a few hours later.

I love making new professional acquaintances. I am interested in networking with passionate individuals and engaging leaders. Reach out to me at py87@cornell.edu and check out my LinkedIn profile at www.linkedin.com/in/pengling .
