For more than three decades, Herb Tannenbaum, Ph.D., has operated the Center for Effective Living, a private mental health center in River Edge, New Jersey. He founded the center in 1981 and has served as Executive Director ever since, establishing individual and group therapy programs for children, teenagers, adults and families. Herb Tannenbaum also offers psychotherapy for couples using Imago Therapy, which was developed by Harville Hendrix, Ph.D., and brought to public attention in the bestselling book "Getting the Love You Want." Dr. Herb Tannenbaum earned a Master of Arts and a Ph.D. from New York University. He was elected a Fellow of the American Institute of Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis in 1977. Herb Tannenbaum Ph.D was trained in Imago Relationship Therapy at the Institute for Relationship Therapy, earning certification as an Imago Therapist, workshop presenter, and Clinical Instructor in 1990, 1991, and 1997 respectively. He served as a member of the Institute’s faculty. Dr. Tannenbaum also offered his professional insights to the media, penning a weekly column for the Suburban Town News. He was the psychological consultant to Partnership for a Drug Free America's "Just Say No" campaign. Herb Tannenbaum has consulted with numerous American Camp Association camps, providing expertise in child development and successful staff and camper orientations. In 2002, Dr. Tannenbaum launched the Harbor Hills Day Camp, where he serves as Director. Dr. Tannenbaum has served on the Board of Directors of the New Jersey section of the American Camp Association and has authored articles on how to handle bullying among children for numerous local publications.
