An undergraduate student at the University of Florida, Hershel Cannon balances an impressive academic resume with a commitment to philanthropic initiatives. His volunteer experience includes time spent at the Shands Cardiovascular Center, where he transported blood to the lab for analysis, assisted staff with clerical tasks, and provided emotional support to patients and their families. Hershel Cannon has also volunteered for the past several years as a counselor at Camp Boggy Creek, where he spends one week each summer with a child with disabilities and his or her family.

In his academic career, Hershel Cannon has maintained a 3.6 GPA in a science-based curriculum while earning recognition as a member of The National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Phi Kappa Phi Honor Society. He was also named the “Academic Brother of the Year” by his fraternity, Phi Delta Theta. Mr. Cannon expects to complete his bachelor’s degree in neuroscience in May of 2018.

Outside his academic and volunteer efforts, Mr. Cannon pursues a diverse range of hobbies that includes cooking, fishing, and playing golf and tennis. An avid traveler, he has backpacked across 12 countries in Europe and 5 countries in Asia, and has also visited countries throughout South America, Central America, and the Caribbean.
