Hessel Jacob Evelaar was born in Soest, The Netherlands. His father, Henk, owns his own company managing logistics' flows; organizing artists’ and events’ tours through Europe and Asia (like Lady Gaga, Rihanna and Monster Jam). His mother, Jacqueline, is a Dutch journalist, as well as a passionate blogger about women’s issues and menopause.

In his early years Hessel joined a small neighbourhood theatre and fell in love with acting. In his spare time he would design and build castles and models out of LEGO, some reaching up to 3 cubical feet, and use them to create his own original videos.

A graduate from the International School of Singapore, Hessel spent a majority of his adolescence in the city-state in Asia. There he studied under the International Baccalaureate and lead his volleyball team to second place in nationwide international-school volleyball competitions, winning a silver medal three years in a row. He could never beat the German team.

Now living in Los Angeles, Hessel trained for two years at the Lee Strasberg Institute for Theatre and Film. He started auditioning in the summer of 2015 and has since booked lead roles in over a dozen short films, commercials and plays.

Hessel continues to work on his craft as an actor and aspires to simply work as much and as hard as he can, creating good films. Whether they’re short, studio, or independent. He speaks fluent Dutch, English, French and German.
